Björn Säfsten

    Björn Säfsten is interested of examine dance movements, question the stage-body as a representative subject or an abstract object. Constructing working methods for each new project using a practice of improvisation structures. In search for method, the aim is through limitations, examine the discourse of his artistic inheritance and through this, comment the discourses that he works within. Since 2006 the creation of a working group has been essential. Together creating the possibility of taking the theories in to practice. The possibility of continue investigating through several project alows the interest of the meta-themes develop and pointing out different aspects of their methods.

    Beginning with the piece The adaptation created in residence in Alcalá de Henares Madrid Spain 2006, the group has made several productions together, culminated through winning the choreographic competition Koreograf 2007 at DansensHus in Stockholm with the piece In trembling space. 2009 Björn was awarded the Cullberg-price.

    Björn has as well done works in admission for Kvarkenrådet, University collage of dance Stockholm and Kulturverket Umeå. As a dancer he worked with choreographers such as Dorte Olesen, Malin Hellkvist Sellén, H2dance and x.ida dance company.
