"Konstnärsnämndens Birgit Cullberg-stipendium år 2009 har tilldelats Björn Säfsten. Han har på kort tid visat på ett moget språk och en unik förmåga att med fingertoppskänsla utmejsla rumslighet i varje enskild rörelse. Med konsekventa och minutiösa förskjutningar frammanar han tillsammans med sina dansare en koreografi som är både utmanande och överraskande för åskådaren"
